Teaser trailer

This is our final copy for our teaser trailer. We decided to make Jade kneel down on the floor to show her weakness. We also made her look up at the camera when she was talking to make it seem like someone was looking down at her and she was looking at them scared. We wanted the trailer to look like an interview but didnt want her sitting in a white room on a chair, we wanted to add tension to the trailer and make her be sitting in a dark room looking scared on the floor. We added eerie sounding music to add more tension and used gunshots at the end when the title came up. We added the gunshots to continue with the tense atmosphere and show somethings going to happen. Jade in the trailer said what her name was, where she is from, how old she is and what she think has happened to her, by saying this is a fearful way added to the tension even more.

Filming at first was akward as we had a few problems with the location, the time to fim and who we was going to film.

We went through several amounts of ideas for our filming. We was going to use the dance and drama studio but then when we went to film a class was in there and there was no free time when we wanted to film. With this idea a few people said it was too much like a normal trailer and not a teaser trailer, so we was back down writing ideas onto paper again. Then we came up with our idea now. We decided upon an interview where the girl would be her character and would talk into the camera to show she's talking to someone, expressing what had happened in her past life (which would be happening in the actual film.) The group then had another problem as they wanted me to be the girl talking into the camera, as i didnt want to do this because i wanted to play a part more in using the camera we decided on using one of our friends, this again caused another problem as our friend had lessons that she couldnt get out of so we had to do it around our lessons, in our frees at lunch and after school. We also decided to film in the dark room that we use in photography, this was because it was a small dark room that would work better then the dance and drama studio, we then used studio lighting to point the light at Jade so we had some light and it wasnt pitch black. We managed to film in one go which was very helpful to us as where we had smeared Jades makeup down her face and made her hair all messy, coming to film again would result in a continuity error as we wouldnt of been able to make her look exactly the same as she was in previous filming. This was an advantage. Therefore filming wasnt a major fall back as we had it all done in time with time to spare to improve on anything drastic.

By having Jade kneeling on the floor we thought this worked really well as we thought this showed her weakness. We wanted this effect to show the audience how weak our model is and show she is the victim in the film. In our teaser trailer our model was in a small dark room against a door, this works really well as it portrays she's trapped, and can't get through the door. I like this idea as it shows the audience she's cornered and maybe a hostage. However i feel the door handle in the camera shot doesn't work well as it suggests the girl is close to escape but can't. Looking back at this we have discussed that we could of had her in a coffin or a hole in the ground that she can not escape from. This would of created more fear for the target audience to draw them in to come and see the film.

Editing our teaser trailer

After filming for our teaser trailer, the editing only took us two double lessons. This is because when filming we made sure we got all the shots we wanted and that when Jade (our actress) was talking it was clear on the camera and we could hear whay she was saying. While editing we had to add in our production name, our title, institution name and also at the end "Coming soon." We added music from a copywrite free music website. We added a piece of music called "Personnal Demons." We had one slight problem with the editing, and that was that in one of the clips of Jade it jumped a bit and made it blurry, we overcome this by putting our production mane over the top of this clip.

Audience feedback results

We uploaded our teaser trailer onto Youtube and Facebook, we got positive comments from friends on Facebook but had no comments from Youtube. Most of the comments mention what we can improve on next time. Most people liked the way we zoomed in on her face when our actress was saying what her name is and how old she was. This was to create tension. Some improvements include making the music quieter as a few people couldnt quite hear what our actress was saying, but this could be due to their computer or how
we rendered it from pinical onto our memory sticks.
Another improvement was to make our actress look more scared then what she actually was as she looks too calm for this situation. One or two people said we should use more camera angles, but we felt as we were using our teaser trailer as a kind of interview, loads of different camera angels wouldnt fit in aswell. The music and the gunshots at the end of our film were good as people thought it created a tensed atmosphere.

Logo

This is our logo idea we used to put on our teaser trailer, to come up with this idea we used our production name which is Tom Ross productions. We decided to produce a logo as all films and teaser trailers have this. This therefore fits in with normal film conventions. We had the black background and the yellow and red writing because it stood out amongst the black background and worked well on our teaser trailer.

Stalked poster

I took this image as i felt only seeing half of the models face portays fear and that she is hidden. We left plenty of space next to the models face so that we could put the title of our film, the directors names and the date it is coming out in the cinema.

The group decided to make the image grey scale as it created a tensed atmosphere and enhanced the image. Then again using photoshop we edited the models eye to a bright blue, this was to show the models normality and draw the audience's attention towards her. We also discussed about cutting around the models hair to make it look tidy, but then decided keeping it messy also gave of the effect she was a normal girl.

This is our final poster. We added the title of our film, using our font we used for our magazine front cover aswell , Dirty Finger. We also added the date our film is realesed, our slogan and our directers names at the bottom etc. We also added "TBC" which stands for to be confirmed. This is often a normal convention for teaser trailers as the age certificate has not been decided yet. The idea of our slogan "Watch your back" is from the idea of actually being stalked. We put it in capital letters so that it stands out and attracts the audience.

Magazine drafts

This is our final copy for our magazine front cover. We were happy with most things on our front cover, therefore we didn't change much. A few things we changed were the free La Femme poster, we changed this because we didn't think people would want a few Love tunnel poster on there wall. We also did this to advertise another groups coursework. We also changed the font of La Femme to the actual font that the other group used, also the colour. We outlined the picture of Grace from the free La Femme poster to yellow, this showed that the piocture was linked with the free advertisement and not with the title Stalked. We changed the colour of the writing on Unknown to green, this made it stand out and create an eerie feeling. We could improve on small slight adjustments including the title La Femme at the bottom to be moved up further so its not sitting on the line at the bottom of the page.
This was our rough draft for our magazine front cover. To get some ideas we looked at different film magazines such as "Empire and Total film." We looked at there conventions and what film magazines include. We made up our own film titles such as "Stalked, Unknown, Bubbles, and the top 2011 films." To stick with normal film magazine conventions we decided to put film reviews and interviews on to convey these.

This was our final front cover. We have changed it slightly from our first draft and moved things around
to fit everything we wanted in. On our first draft we have the film title Bubbles in a bubble with bubbles around it, we decided I didn't like the bubbles as it didn't fit our conventions of a film magazine that we wanted, therefore we erased the small bubble
s but kept the writing in a big bubble still. We had a few problems with the writing and the colours. We wanted the title "Stalked" on the right and the slogan in orange above and the rest of the writing around, whereas our model is wearing bracelets the problem was having to change the colour so we could see it around the black backgrounds and our models bracelets. We also didn't want the picture in the bottom right as it made the whole magazine looked cramped as most thin
gs were happening in the right. Therefore we moved the picture to the left and the main title and slogan above the picture on
the left. We also changed the slogan colour to a dark blue so we could see it clearly through the black background. We added the Free love tunnel poster picture but we feel that this isn't a picture you would like on your wall so we have planned to change this to another image. We added the bar code to fit in with conventions of a film magazine. We have put it in the top right hand corner next to the price and the date. We used the title font "Dirty Finger" as our magazine title "Empire" and "Stalked" to show that Stalked is the main article on the magazine front cover.

Magazine front cover edits

I took this picture of Jade cupping her hands and feeling scared. We wanted our model to look vulnerable and as if she hand been crying, so we smudged her makeup down her face and made her look scared and upset. She is also kneeling down and looking at the camera to show its actually someone or something she is looking at. Whilst editing the picture we realised our model was wearing different coloured nail varnish, we decided to keep this nail varnish on our model to show she's leading A normal life and is an ordinary girl.

This was our final copy of our image that i edited using photoshop, to create this image i increased the contrast to make the image stand out more, i then increased the levels to make the colour black look more effective. By doing this it gave us a scarier feel to the picture. Then using the second layer of the image on photoshop i added our title EMPIRE and made it go behind our models head so that her face wasnt covered up, i could do this because EMPIRE is a popular magazine and everyone knows the name of it.

Location

We decided not to use the dance and drama studio as we wanted a small dark room. We decided to use the dark room as its a small room and the darkness made it feel isolated. We turned off all the lights and aimed a spotlight at the actress in our film to create a dark yet lighter image. We decided not to put our movie poster in the background as many teaser trailers don't use this convention. Having the spotlight over our model made her look vulnerable and realistic.

Choosing Music

I researched copyright free music on google and found a few ideas, my group suggested this piece of music was the best idea. Its called "Personnal Demons." The idea of using this piece of music is because its a tense piece. It starts of slow and the tension builds up through the musical piece.

Anamatic

This is our film in anamatic. Using our storyboards we previously designed, we filmed them using a flip camera. We then uploaded the film onto pinacle and edited the film using this program to make a short film. The girl is crying throughout our short film whilst talking about a past memory. There are two-three black screens, on these shots are going to be our production name, our institution name. Throughout these black screens our actress will talk over them aswell create a voice over effect. At the end of our teaser trailer is another black screen which comes up with our trailer title and coming soon 2011.

Font Research

These titles are titles that we have researched and used for title ideas. My favourite is title number 4, this is because it fits in with our convention of a film horror. I also like it because its not to over the top scary. We orignally suggested film title number 3, this is because it stood out and is easy to understand the writing. Title number 1 is to plain and doesnt look scary enough for our film title. Title number 2 looks like a child from preschool has writen it. Title number 5 we are not using, this is because it looks to old fashioned and doesnt fit in with our convention of a horror.

Scouting Locations

So far we have decided to use the dance and drama studio at our school. This will enable my group to experiment with lighting and the use of darkness. We have decided to have the background black and a white spotlight over the girl to show she is the main character and that sh in vunerable. This wil also help us create a realistic mise-en-scene as it will be in the dark and only using a spotlight to focus on the girl. Having looked at interview teaser trailers i have sugessted putting our teaser trailer poster in the background.

First draft - Magazine front cover

This is our first draft of our media magazine front cover. The main image is the main character in our teaser trailer. The clothes she is wearing is what she will be wearing in our teaser trailer. We thought a long red dress with straps and covered her toes would make her more vunerable and hiden. In the poster the character is standing up, my group has decided to take a few pictures where the girl is standing at different heights and postures etc. We thought this would give us more of a choice when we came to choosing the final picture. So far we have decided to use a red dress to show she is the one in danger but to make her look vunerable we thought we may need to choose a different colour dress so to do this will we take pictures in different colour dresses and chose the appropirate one. The character has a spotlight over her to show she is the main character and that the film is about her. We decided using the name EMPIRE as our magazine title but have decided we may want to change it to SPOTLIGHT. We will discuss this later on in our group and come up with the second draft. I came up with the idea of making the title glow, this is to stick with the normal convention of EMPIRE and also to make our title stand out against the rest that we have put onto our magazine front cover. To make our magazine attract to a certain audience we have added on the bottom of our magazine a FREE poster and also we have interviews with stars which would be included in a normal convention of magazine front covers. To make our magazine fornt cover work like EMPIRE'S works we have stuck with normal magazine conventions.
