1st Draft of Teaser Trailer

This is our first draft for our teaser trailer. We have decided not to use this idea as i didnt think it was scary enough to use as a horror. We had an image of a girl writing a diary and then a man staring up at the girl from across the road, i decided that this doesn't create a tensed atmosphere as its not scary enough to show as a horror, i thought this storyboard idea is to much like an drama and not our chosen genre which is a horror.

Horror film posters

In todays lesson i researched different horror posters. I looked at the following 4 posters. I noticed most of the film posters contain dark colours to create the gloomy and scary effect. There was also many posters with reds and oranges, these colours used sense the feeling of danger and fire, and also blood.

These 4 images below are all movie posters which are horrors.

This film poster is a typical convention of a Horror poster, this is due to the blood and the
arbitrary body parts as the main image. The use of blood which is associated with death also shows what may take place in the film. The title on the poster "Saw" shows its a horror as it looks like its been written on with blood of some sort. This poster creates a tense audience as they don't know why theres been a foot 'chopped off.' The target audience for this film is an 18, therefore we cant relate to this film poster for ideas as it is too violent and gruesome. The colours on this film poster doesnt follow the conventions of orignal horror posters of dark colours etc. The background colour is still successful in create a scary horror poster as the main image is the foot. The foot is still a dark colour with the effect of blood and bones showing, this creates a distraught feeling for the audience.

It was my idea to get this poster off the internet as it looks quite relevant to our idea as its outdoors with very little light, which is what we want in comparision to our poster. This is a classic horror as it has dramatic and dangerous behaviour. The certificate for this film is an 18, this doesnt relate to our film as we want ours to be for 15years+. This use of lighting used in the film poster creates mystery and secrecy and the use of black was a common convention used for horror posters. The main focus on this image is the main with his hat and holdle. By having the light from the window shining on the man tells the audience he is the main character and he could be the "Exocist." The tag line is "The most terrifying movie off all time" this tells the audience that the film is going to be scary. Our movie poster has the same idea as this movie poster, we want to use street lighting and make it outside in the dark, this shows the dark and gloomy effect we want in our horror.

This poster is again another horror. It is a typical convention of horror films as it contains a young girl being haunted by a little boy. The Unborn certificate is a 15, this relates to our certificate and target audience of 15 years +. The use of the tag line "Evil will do anything to live" tells the audience what might happen in the film. This creates a tensed feeling, the effect of the man starring at the women through the mirror also adds to the tensed feeling. This is a typical horror as the colours used are dark and gloomy and the title is glowing. This could suggest the reason of life, by having the title "Unborn" and having it glowing. The title is giving the film life.

This poster is a horror/thriller and is certificated at PG 13. This doesn't relate to our target audience as ours is for 15+. In this image they have stuck to the orignal film conventions of horror posters as they have used dark greys and blacks, they have also used reds and oranges around the girl, this could tell the audience she is the victim and the one in danger. The red around her creates the danger effect. The fact the women is screaming and has hands grabbing her aswell also shows she is the main character and maybe the victim. They have used studio lighting on the women to make her stand out, they have also darkened the background to create a scarier effect. The tag line on this poster is just above the film title, this tag line creates the film and briefly describes what is going to happen in the film.

Tuesday 24th November

We watched more teaser trailers in todays lesson and came up with more ideas for our own teaser trailer. We decided to stick with the idea of using Dear diary as we thought this was a good idea and it was through a first persons narrative. We also came up with different diary ideas of what to write, what kind of diary to use etc. We decided that the camera angle we would use to see the diary is from the girls perspective at her looking down at the diary.

In Mondays lesson we decided the name Emily Rose was not appropriate anymore as it was copying too much of the orignal film horror caller "Exocist of Emily Rose." We came up with the name "Stalked" we research films already called "Stalked" and there were not any be used so we decided this would be a good film title as it is whats happening in the film, so it gives the audience an idea of whats going to happen.

Teaser Trailers

Teaser Trailers are short trailers used to advertise a new film coming out but dont give any of the story away. Teaser trailers are more likely to be used for big budget films like 2012.

Teaser trailers are much shorter then a normal trailerThere is hardly any film footage in these Teaser trailers dont tell the audience much about the film Teaser trailers can be dirctor's commentary like the new Ricky Gervais movie
Teaser trailers come out a year or even two years before the film is out and teaser trailers also can be made before the film is even thought about.

Monday 23rd November

We came up with the idea of a Horror and call it Emily Rose. We chose this name as it sounded like a scary name to use, but that was due to the film called "Exorcist of Emily Rose" so we have choosen to change the name. The reason for choosing a horror is because it was easy to make and interesting as people would be on the edge of their seat watching it. The idea was, we start with a girl writing a diary, "Dear diary" then it faded into the next scene with a black or white flash to the same girl in the shower (just the shadow through the shower curtain) then again a black faded flash to the girl still writing the diary "He wrote to me again" then a black/white flash to a mirror that has been steamed up from the shower saying "I see you."

We decided to use these ideas as its freaky due to we dont no what it is that can see the girl. After looking back at this idea we realised it was too much of a normal trailer and not a teaser trailer as it had too much film footage in it.

Movie poster - 26th November - 1st draft

This is our first draft for our movie poster. We decided to have it at a bus stop in the evening when its dark, we thought this would be a good idea as it emphasises the stalker idealogy. We are only using the stalkers hands on the glass and only make his eyes seeable as we dont want the audience to know who or what the stalker is. We will make the stalkers eyes an abnormal colour as it creates tension to the audience as they dont normally see yellow eyes on a person. We decided to have the women looking over her shoulder with a worrying face to show the audience she can sense something happening, we also suggested the hair blowing in the wind to create the pathetic fallacy. We have written at the bottom "Coming 2011" to show when our film is coming out at the cinema, we suggested coming soon wasn't appropriate as the coming date was unknown. "Stalked" is our film title that we want to put on our poster but think writing the title on the floor in chalk was a good idea so we suggested to try this out and if it doesn't work we will try writing it in other forms or writing. Our target audience is aimed at 15+ as there are very little explicit scenes. Our poster is portrait as we want to show the whole picture and the way the girl is standing and the atmosphere emphasises its a tensed feeling.
